In September 2025, Brightlands Circular Space celebrated the topping out of Circular House. Construction of this key part of the demonstration facility for circular plastics in Sittard-Geleen began in March, and the building is now visibly taking shape. Circular House is designed to become a central hub for industry experts, designers, brand owners, researchers, and consumersโa place to co-create sustainable and circular plastic materials and business solutions.
The facility will house offices, laboratories, a Maker Space, and a Co-creation & Experience Center, all connected by an open route and built with circular materials. Adjacent to it, advanced R&D and testing facilities will provide equipment to improve the quality of recycled plastics and showcase the possibilities of circular plastics.
Brightlands Circular Space (BCS), part of the Chemelot industry cluster, will play a central role in accelerating the circular transition of plastics. With a contribution of 25 million euros from the National Growth Fund program Circular Plastics NL, BCS is investing in the development of open, large-scale testing and co-creation facilities. The total investment of 50 million euros will enable the creation of the House for Circular Co-creation, a skid and demo facility, and a Polymer Processing facility, which are expected to be operational in 2026.
