No impact on CPNL: Lower chamber votes to postpone fourth round of National Growth Fund
On March 19, two motions were voted on in the House of Representatives regarding the National Growth Fund. Both motions were rejected, postponing the fourth round of the fund until further notice. This decision will not affect the funding of Circular Plastics NL's program, as our proposal was already approved in the second round and this vote will not affect programs already awarded.
The National Growth Fund, which supports companies to invest in innovative projects, has 7.4 billion euros left from the original 20 billion. The decision on the survival of the fund now appears to be in the hands of the forming parties. Companies preparing to propose for the upcoming fourth round, including KPN, NXP and Airbus, are disappointed because it is uncertain whether the fund will continue to exist and whether they will be able to submit their grant applications. D66 tried with two motions to seek clarity on the fund's continued existence, but they were rejected. Circular Plastics NL and several business organizations (such as VNO-NCW, MKB Nederland, VNCI and NRK) underline the importance of the fund for the long-term business climate and technological developments and are disappointed with these decisions.
We look forward with hope to a new administration that recognizes the importance of circularity and innovation from the Netherlands and decides to make the National Growth Fund available again. We are convinced that the fund offers opportunities to stimulate the Netherlands economically in a sustainable way.
