NWO pre-announcement: research on technical innovations to make plastics circular

2 minutes

NWO and CPNL today published the pre-announcement of the CPNL research program for program line 8: The Incubator.

This call titled: Making Plastics Circular: Technical Innovations explains grant opportunities through NWO. The call is expected to open in October.

NWO Announcement

By 2030, the Netherlands wants 50 percent of all plastics to be recycled and by 2050 production must be fully circular. To achieve these goals, the call Making Plastics Circular: Technical Innovations researches new materials (polymers), more effective characterization, sorting and waste technologies and recycling techniques for plastics. Six million euros is available for research.

Research can include developing materials and additives that make the process of recycling plastics easier. Development of more efficient and effective characterization, sorting and washing technologies can also be investigated. Furthermore, new recycling methods that are not yet widely used and make recycling more efficient can be examined. There is also room for research into the creation, prevention or mitigation of microplastics in the recycling process. Up to ten research proposals will be awarded in this call. The studies will have a duration of five years.

This is solely an announcement of the proposed research program through NWO. The opportunity to apply for funding is open upon publication of a call for proposals.

The opening of this call and the open calls of the other CPNL program lines will be announced in advance in our monthly newsletter, sign up here: http: //eepurl.com/h_qebD
